2007-08 BOARD MEMBERS
Robyn FayRobyn Fay has spent the majority of her adult life in the field of education. In 1985 Robyn joined the board of the fledgling Los Altos Educational Foundation, a parent volunteer organization formed to raise funds for enrichment programs being cut when restrictive state legislation such as Proposition 13 created serious financial problems for the Los Altos School District. Robyn has worked for LAEF in various capacities since 1985 and has been Executive Director since 1999. Robyn has a BA from the University of California and has been a facilitator for Fresh Perspectives, a parent workshop providing its participants with an arsenal of practical, parent-tested ideas. Teresa KerstenTeresa joined the board in 2003 as a representative from Almond School. After ten years in marketing positions at Apple Computer, Intuit, and an Internet start up, she started a marketing consulting firm. She currently advises clients like Adobe Systems, The Gap, ETrade, and Discovery Communications on marketing strategy and marketing communications. Her focus is on helping high technology companies offer products and services that are compelling to consumers and small business owners. Teresa has been active in the Almond PTA and on local parcel tax campaigns for Los Altos Schools. She has an undergraduate degree from Stanford and an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. Teresa and her husband live in Los Altos and have two children at Almond and one at Egan. Ed BaerKim GavenmanJay GillJay Gill joined the LAEF board in 2005 and serves as the Treasurer. Jay brings to the board 20 years of business strategy and planning experience in high technology and entrepreneurial companies. Jay is currently a telecommunications strategy consultant with Cisco Systems in San Jose. Jay's previous telecommunication experience includes venture-backed startups (Telseon and Yipes) and incumbent service providers (Bellcore and Bell Atlantic, now Verizon). Jay also headed product and business development at an entrepreneurial company developing clean energy and transportation technologies. Jay holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Master of Business Administration degree from UCLA's Anderson School. Shobana GubbiShobana Gubbi joined the LAEF board as a volunteer in 2004. She has two sons, in fourth and second grades, at Loyola School. Shobana brings to the board over fifteen years of professional experience working in hi-tech companies in engineering, product strategy and marketing. Shobana has worked in product marketing at AlphaSmart, a technology company focused on education. Shobana has also worked in product development and marketing at Cisco Systems and Iris Financial Engineering. Shobana has served on the board as chair of the Marketing and PR committee and member of the Grant Making committee. Shobana is an active volunteer at Loyola School and has held several PTA positions including co-VP Programs and Book Fair Chair. Shobana holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Jean LimbachEd BaerEric DocterJulie ArnheimMark BoennighausenMark joined the LAEF board in 2006. Mark and his wife Sue have a first grader at Covington and a toddler daughter who is in the pipeline. Mark graduated from Mtn View High School(then Awalt). He went to college at the University of Notre Dame and received a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He practices law in San Jose and is looking forward to doing his part to continue the excellence of the LASD. Katie GrayKatie RoperKatie Roper joined the LAEF Board in 2006, after proving her ability at various phone-a-thons to ask anyone, any time, for any amount of money. The parent of a Covington third grader and a Bullis kindergartener, Katie juggles a thriving sales and marketing consulting practice with driving to soccer and piano lessons, and classroom volunteering. Katie passionately believes in the value of art, music, and PE classes in the public schools, and is proud to be able to support these things with her time and talents.
Rupal MehtaRupal, a resident of Los Altos since 1985, is new to the LAEF board. Her three children are now at Santa Rita, Egan, and high school. Rupal is now devoted to being active in the community following a long career in the high tech industry. Currently, PTA projects, parcel tax, and other emerging issues keep Rupal involved in our local world. Cindy WaldenCindy Walden is a retired high tech executive currently pursuing a second career in sustainable residential design. Before joining the LAEF board in 2005 as a Santa Rita School representative, she had been a long time LAEF phonathon fundraiser. Along with volunteering at the Santa Rita school and tutoring beginning reader's at the Castro School in Mountain View, Cindy has been actively involved in the annual Los Altos Relay for Life event. She serves on Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering Board of Visitors. Cindy earned her Bachelors of Engineering degree from Duke University and her MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Graduate School of Business. Cindy resides in Los Altos with her husband and two children. Katie WiederholtKatie Wiederholt has been selling software and technology in Silicon Valley for over 15 years. Currently Katie is a sales director for a Palo Alto start-up, Transparency Software. She has 2 boys at Egan Junior High in 7th and 8th grade. Prior to Egan, her boys attended Springer Elementary, where Katie was very active in the PTA, taking on such roles as PTA President, Parliamentarian and Secretary. Katie has a degree in Math from UC Santa Barbara. Kristine BardmanGlenn GoldbergAnna WeldonAnna Weldon grew up in Los Altos and attended Loyola, Blach and Awalt (now Mountain View High School). With husband Jack, she is the parent of a fourth grader at Loyola. As publicist with the Palo Alto Art Center and in her consulting practice, Anna works with a variety of non-profit and arts organizations. In addition to working on the LAEF Board, Anna is an active member of the Loyola PTA and was on the Executive Board. Currently, she is also a member of the Los Altos Community Foundation's Grants Advisory Board and has served on the boards of the Los Altos History Museum and the De Saisset Museum at Santa Clara University. Mike MaciagJim MartinAndy CohenAlan CyronJulia Erwin-WeinerTrinka DyerMichael MillikenJim StroudJim and his wife Gretchen have three sons at Springer Elementary School, in sixth, fourth and first grades. Jim has volunteered in many classrooms at Springer and has assisted the PTA as financial secretary and auditor. He has worked for Price Waterhouse in San Francisco, Cooley Godward in Palo Alto, and holds degrees from Stanford University and Yale University. Jim joined the LAEF board in 2005, pleased to be part of an organization devoted to enriching the lives of students. Stephanie Towell |
