Endowment FundLAEF's Endowment Fund is designed to provide a long term, stable source of financial assistance to the district. Through this Fund, LAEF can accept individual donations, including gifts of securities, property, life insurance and other estate planning contributions. Contributions to the Endowment Fund become an investment in education that keeps on giving.LAEF Offers Endowment Fund for Long Term GivingThroughout its history, the Los Altos Educational Foundation (LAEF) has been enriched by the generosity of many benefactors – individuals who have contributed time, talent, and money. These investments have helped build a first class school district dedicated to giving children an enriched, well-rounded elementary education. Today, in an effort to take a step toward joining the ranks of "mature foundations", the Foundation is pleased to offer our community the opportunity to "Invest in Excellence" by investing in our Endowment Fund. The LAEF Endowment Fund was established in 1997 with the purpose of providing a long-term, stable source of financial assistance to the Los Altos School District. Endowment fund assets typically consist of cash, securities, equities, or property given to a foundation with the condition that the principal be maintained in perpetuity and only the income generated may be expended. Until the LAEF Endowment Fund assets reach a total of $500,000 there will be no distribution of income. Then, a percentage of the fair market value of the assets in the Fund will be used to supplement LAEF’s annual grants to the District. The creation of the LAEF Endowment Fund is a bold step in cultivating an environment for educational innovation. It will also assure that crucial educational programs continue far into the future.The LAEF Endowment Fund currently offers two giving opportunities:TRIBUTE GIFTS: As your child completes the school year, you may make a special tax-deductible donation to the LAEF Endowment Fund by way of a tribute gift in recognition of a teacher, staff member or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to your child’s educational experience. A note of appreciation, enclosed with your tribute message, will be sent to the honoree from LAEF. Your gift, large or small, is placed in the Endowment Fund where a portion of the interest earned is granted to the District each year to support the many programs sponsored by LAEF. COMMUNITY GIFTS: The Foundation has grown through the generosity and vision of many who recognize the Foundation as a capable and agile steward of their philanthropic resources. By making a general contribution to the LAEF Endowment Fund, you will help the Foundation "Invest is Excellence" and provide long term financial support for our schools. |
