Mission, History, & SchoolsMissionThe Los Altos Educational Foundation works to raise funds and to provide financial support as a supplement to the resources of the Los Altos School District for the purpose of funding academic and enrichment programs, and improving the overall education of students in the schools of the Los Altos School District. The Los Altos Educational Foundation (LAEF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Tax ID# 94-2862793. HistoryThe Foundation was formed in 1982 by a group of parents in search of a way to support the Los Altos School District in a time of financial crisis. Budget cuts and restrictive state legislation (Proposition 13) had created serious financial challenges for the district. This forward-thinking group of parents took the first steps to building a strong foundation for the future. Thanks to their vision, the Los Altos Educational Foundation (LAEF) was established to provide funds for district-wide programs and to make sure every child receives a well-rounded educational experience.
